ABC's

Yesterday while I was with a small group of friends,
our little guy was playing with a bus toy
intended to help teach toddlers the alphabet.
I wasn't paying much attention to what he was doing and a friend says,
"Does he know all of the letters already?"
I told her he could recognize one or two, like the letter ~ J~
This morning we had a little shopping we had to do...
as we pulled into the parking lot and he says,
"T - A - R - G - E - T"

What a surprise that was to me. I guess I ought to keep a closer eye on my kids, it seems that my older kids are doing my job for me!

Did you know that
S T R E S S E D
backwards is...

D E S S E R T S!

Thanks, Guinevere! That explains my current cravings ~

Locks of Love...

Today we donated twelve inches of hair to Locks of Love
B E F O R E
D U R I N G
A F T E R
She was so cute sitting in the big chair, smiling the whole time.
When we were finished, I was a little surprised by how short it was ~
To be honest, I missed her long locks already...
But she absolutely loves it - and loved the attention she got while cutting it!
It was a super hot day today and I am sure her short hair felt nice outside.
After the haircut I took the kids to Friendly's where they enjoyed a new treat on the menu ~ build your own Ice Cream Sundae!

F I S H Y

We spent the day at the State Park waiting our turn to help restock the Creek with over 1,000 trout. We've done this every year that we've lived here and it seems I always end up dumping at least one of the fish into the creek myself. Even the little guy did a great job carrying around his bucket.

I think our little guy was the only one really interested in looking at his fish in the bucket. One of the fish was quite a splasher...

The Library

My kids have always loved going to the Library!
I've taken them all since they were able to sit and listen ~
Yesterday was our first trip back to the library in a few weeks.
He loves to play with his cute friends that meet us there...
and he loves to play with all the toys, books and puzzles too!

First Day of Spring

My bulbs are just starting to peek out of the ground.
The tulips and daffodils are still only about an inch tall,
but I love that the little purple crocus flowers are blooming!
~ HAPPY SPRING ~

Happy St Patty's Day!

We started the day with GREEN SHAMROCK shaped pancakes -
which really looked like four big blobs stuck together!
But the kids were totally impressed... (that's what matters, right?)
The kids came home from school to find a trail of
GOLD leading them through the house...
(GOLD - twix, hershey's nuggets & any other candy wrapped in gold foil)
The trail led to a real treasure... LUCKY CHARMS cereal!
Marshmallow cereals are typically not found in our house -
So it really was a treat for the kids!

A quote from my 8 year old...
"Mom... you are the best human in the universe!"
I was stumped - I didn't know how to respond,
Was that a compliment?
This growing up business is strange at times.

Happy Birthday

For a while he was telling people he would be 35 this year... Today he is 34!

We all celebrate our birthdays in the winter...
This was our last party until the end of November rolls around again!
~ OK, so honestly... there was NO party...
He wants to have the basement finished before having a party!
Perhaps we'll have a party when he really turns 35.

More Snow!

Last week I started to see small patches of green grass peeking through the snow in our front yard. Over the last two days we probably got another foot of snow!

Out our back window...

The deck...

The walkway to our front door...

Didn't the groudhog results indicate Spring would arrive soon?

A favorite...

One of my favorite desserts is cheesecake...
and this week I had all three of these!
(I did share a little)
No ~ I am not proud of it...
but they were delicious!
* Please do not comment on how many miles I will have to do
on the treadmill to work off the calories I consumed -
I already weighed in for the week and realize my demise!

The Children's Museum

The kids are home from school this week for Winter break
so we took them to the Children's Museum.
We had a great time looking at all of the interactive rooms and exhibits -
well, we had a great time until it got too crowded...
We weren't the only ones with the bright idea to go when school was out!

They've always loved the Fire Station area...
Riding in the Fire Truck & Sliding down the Fire Pole is a big hit!
They also love to make the Giant Bubble.
The kids love to look in the mirror to see themselves inside the Bubble.

Bunny Bowls...

When my sisters and I were little, we all had our own little bunny bowl. Our great aunt gave them to us and we LOVED them! My mom has continued the tradition and has purchased these cute little bunny bowls for all of the grandkids. When my oldest was 2 and we were expecting baby #2, my mom came to visit us and we went shopping for our 2nd bunny bowl. I told her that I cherished the bowl and did not let my then toddler eat out of it because I didn't want it to break! She reminded me how much as a kid I used to love eating out of it and that I should let my kids eat out of them so they can enjoy them as well. So I did... and none of them had broken ~
Until now....
In the last month our little monkey has broken two of the three bowls.
I guess my mom and I have some shopping to do next time she visits!
