More Snow!

Last week I started to see small patches of green grass peeking through the snow in our front yard. Over the last two days we probably got another foot of snow!

Out our back window...

The deck...

The walkway to our front door...

Didn't the groudhog results indicate Spring would arrive soon?

A favorite...

One of my favorite desserts is cheesecake...
and this week I had all three of these!
(I did share a little)
No ~ I am not proud of it...
but they were delicious!
* Please do not comment on how many miles I will have to do
on the treadmill to work off the calories I consumed -
I already weighed in for the week and realize my demise!

The Children's Museum

The kids are home from school this week for Winter break
so we took them to the Children's Museum.
We had a great time looking at all of the interactive rooms and exhibits -
well, we had a great time until it got too crowded...
We weren't the only ones with the bright idea to go when school was out!

They've always loved the Fire Station area...
Riding in the Fire Truck & Sliding down the Fire Pole is a big hit!
They also love to make the Giant Bubble.
The kids love to look in the mirror to see themselves inside the Bubble.

Bunny Bowls...

When my sisters and I were little, we all had our own little bunny bowl. Our great aunt gave them to us and we LOVED them! My mom has continued the tradition and has purchased these cute little bunny bowls for all of the grandkids. When my oldest was 2 and we were expecting baby #2, my mom came to visit us and we went shopping for our 2nd bunny bowl. I told her that I cherished the bowl and did not let my then toddler eat out of it because I didn't want it to break! She reminded me how much as a kid I used to love eating out of it and that I should let my kids eat out of them so they can enjoy them as well. So I did... and none of them had broken ~
Until now....
In the last month our little monkey has broken two of the three bowls.
I guess my mom and I have some shopping to do next time she visits!

I got Tagged!

My Husband...
  • What is his name? Samson
  • How long have you been together? 11 years
  • How long did you date? 4 months
  • How old is he? 33 - He was telling people at work that he'd be 35 soon, I reminded him of his real age & he was excited to be getting back an extra year of his life.
  • Who eats more? He eats more at mealtime, but I snack WAY more during the day!
  • Who said I love you first? He did ~ I was meeting his parents in Florida over Christmas break. I told him I wasn't quite ready for that kind of conversation - by the end of the trip we were talking about getting married!
  • Who is taller? He is by about 9 inches
  • Who can sing better? He can, for sure... except I know the words to more songs... he has a tendancy to make up words as he sings (sometimes his lyrics are better than the real ones)
  • Who is smarter? I got better grades in college, but my brain has turned to mush over the last decade. He is way more "street smart." I would get us killed in a dark alley
  • Who does the laundry? Me
  • Who pays the bills? Me - he makes sure I don't forget
  • Who sleeps on the right side of the bed? Me
  • Who mows the lawn? We both do... we've got more than an acre, but we've also got a riding mower which makes it quite relaxing to mow!
  • Who cooks dinner? Me, unless you want hash and eggs
  • Who drives? He does...
  • Who is more stubborn? Me... for sure!
  • Who kissed who first? He kissed me.. but I think I was waiting all night for it
  • Who asked who out first? He asked me... Training Table and Trafalga!
  • Who proposed? He did, the day before Valentines Day
  • Who has more friends? I am closer to my friends than he is, but he has more friends through work
  • Who is more sensitive? Me...
  • Who has more siblings? He's got five, I've got three
  • Who wears the pants? I'll put on a dress for Sundays...
Now I am tagging..... my sisters (it'll give Nikki a reason to update her blog) and anyone who visits our blog! If you are reading this - consider yourself tagged!

Well Hidden ~

Look Closely...
What is out of the ordinary in this picture?
If you looked close enough you would have found this...
My little monkey's half eaten PB & J
Do you think he was hiding it or just putting it away for later?

Weekend Company ~

Here are a few highlights from our weekend with my niece ~ Crepes has always been a family favorite -
My sisters and I enjoyed them when we were young
and now all of our kids devour them... just like we did!

The girls painted, created cards, and put together Valentine necklaces. It was fun to watch as they played... I don't get to see them together much!

The two kids getting baptized this year celebrated a belated birthday together. They were born on the same day back in 2000. The kids helped bake the cake and each one had their own sprinkle color when it came time to decorate.

Our boy was baptized!

Today was a very special day for our family.

We are so proud of the decision he made to be baptized a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. We are very blessed to have family and friends who came to support him in this special time in his life. He was baptized by his dad and confirmed by his grandpa. The talks were given his grandmas and the prayers were given by his little sister and his cousin. I am a very pround mom today!

My Primary Colors!

Since the summer of 2004 I have been serving in the Primary.
For the first few months I was the chorister ~ I know it
sounds funny to those of you who have heard me sing,
but I loved it and I like to think that I was pretty good at it!
I may not know how to carry a tune,
but I like to think I know how to have fun with the kids.
For the last few years I've served as the Primary president,
and today I was released from that calling.
When I began serving in Primary my oldest was a Sunbeam...
He will be baptized next week!
It has been such a blessing to watch and see how Heavenly Father
touches the lives of those people who serve in Primary.
I have felt the love He has for the children and I have been
able to feel the sweet spirit that children have.
I have also been there on the days where the children were
incredibly restless and uninterested in what was being taught -
in their defense... some days are boring in Primary -
we as leaders are not always prepared well.
I have been able to serve with some amazing women these last
four years in Primary. I have learned so much from them ~
I would never have been able to feel successful in my
calling without the support and help from them.
I was so grateful today when the new primary
presidency was announced ~ they are going to be fantastic...
these children are in good hands!

Modern Day Cinderella ~

My kids love to watch Are you Smarter than a 5th Grader!
The other night Miss America was on the show.
Our little girl ~ who loves all of the Disney princesses says, "Look mom, Cinderella is on the show!"
***
It was so cute... and it really did look a little bit like a modern day Cinderella. She was wearing her sparkly crown and a light blue dress-suit. Can you answer a few her questions?
  1. Lake Superior borders how many US states?
  2. More than 99% of the mass of our solar system is in what heavenly body?
  3. What is the greatest common factor of 12 and 36?
  4. What is a homophone of "night"?
  5. Who said, "Give me liberty or give me death?"

A New Photographer!

This is my new cute little camera! It was a surprise present for Christmas -
in the last decade we've been married, I've never been surprised...
I guess I had been complaining about our old camera for so long that he
finally got tired of my complaints. I was told to take good care of the camera and NEVER to leave it in a place where any children could get to it!
~
These were the picture taken today with our camera -
... and this was our photographer!
- OOPS -
Although you can't really see it, my deodorant is under his shirt. It was cute the way he was trying so hard to get it in the right place... he is always getting into things he shouldn't and I've been told that I really ought to start documenting all of the funny - and not so funny - things he does. I took the picture, a little disappointed that it didn't capture the essence of the deodorant application and put the camera down on what I thought was a safe place - Dad's bureau. I should have known that this little guy could scale the bureau and find the camera... little did I know he could also find the right button and start taking pictures! Cute little bugger...

Our snow fort

The kids have been busy outside in the snow fort!
The weather will be reaching near 60 this week,
and I think their fort is going to start melting soon~
